COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLEANING COMPOUND, PORCELAIN AND CERAMIC TILE
(CREAMCLEANSER)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal Specification P-C- 1891, Type 11.
Salient characteristics:
The cream cleanser shall be class 1- with & chlorine bleach, or class 2- regular, as specified in the contract.
The cream cleanser shall bean aqueous suspension of mild abrasive, detergents, builder, chlorine bleach (class 1 only) and other ingredients as needed. The cream cleanser shall rapidly remove stubborn scuffs, stains, grease, soap scum, dirt and grime on porcelain, tile and stainless steel. The class 1 cleanser shall be safe to use on aluminum and chrome as well as porcelain, tile and stainless steel.
Available chlorine, class 1. The class 1cream cleanser shall have not less than 1.20percent by weight available chlorine when tested as specified in ASTM A 2022- Sampling and Chemical Analysis of Chlorine-Containing Bleaches.
Performance. When tested as follows, the cream cleanser shall remove all the test soil and not scratch the glass panel:

The issues of the ASTM standards in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
Weigh 3.0 grams of the soiling mixture onto the surface of a clean, scratch-free, 4” x 4” square window glass pane. Using a dry cloth, such as cheese-cloth, spread the soil to thinly and evenly coat one side of the pane. Weigh out 3.0 grams of cream cleanser, spread on a wad of clean, dampened cloth of soft material like unsized cotton and apply to the soiled glass panel with a circular hand motion. Let it dry, forming a film. Wipe the dried film off the glass panel with a clean, dry cloth. The soiling mixture shall have been completely removed from the glass panel. There shall be no streaks or scratches on the glass. There shall be no fine abrasion of the glass surface which causes distortion or blurring of images seen through the glass panel.
Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
