This commercial item description covers an aerosol oven cleaner suitable for removing heavy, baked-on grease and carbonized soil deposit on grills, ovens, fryers, other kitchen equipment (including stainless steel), and vertical and horizontal surfaces where such deposits might occur.
2. Salient Characteritics:
2.1 pH. The oven cleaner (without the propellant as a component) shall have a pH, at 25oC (77oF) not less than 13.0 when tested in accordance with ASTM E 70.
2.2 Delivery rate. The aerosol oven cleaner shall have a delivery rate at 21oC (70oF) of 1.0 to 3.5 grams per second when tested in accordance with ASTM D 3069.
2.3 Flammability. The oven cleaner nor the propellant shall be flammable.
2.4 Test soil composition. When tested in accordance with paragraph 2.6, the aerosol oven cleaner shall completely remove a soil of the following composition:

Corn oil (Mazola) 84
Sugar (granulated) 8
Flour (Standard, bleached) 8
2. Preparation of soil. While stirring, heat corn oil to 65.5oC to 93oC (150oF to 200oF).While continuing to stir, add sugar and flour and mix thoroughly. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature before use.
2.6.1 Equipment. Paint brush, two-porcelain enamel test panels and two stainless steel Grade 430 test panels. The test panels shall be approximately 7.62 cm X 7.62 cm (3 inches X 3 inches). The porcelain test panels may be obtained from the Ferro Corporation, 4150 E. 56th Street, Cleveland, OH. The stainless test panels may be obtained from various oven and range manufacturers.
