This commercial item description covers laundry starch in powder of granular form which shall be suitable for starching clothing and other articles, using accepted laundry procedures.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The starch shall be of the following types.
2.1 Type I. Thin-boiling starch to be used either cooked or dry.
Type III. Thick-boiling starch to be used either cooked or dry.
Type V. Precooked (instant) starch to be used dry
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
The starch shall be white to cream in color and shall be free from lumps, caking, or any foreign matter. The finished starched products shall have a smooth, even finish with the desired degree of stiffness. The starch shall be lubricated and contain preservative to related spoilage.
4. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.
The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23,403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
